I am a historian by trade who works as a substitute teacher and in customer service for an international lighting company. I hold an MA in History and regularly write both fiction and academic essays. My specialty as a historian is American slavery and abolitionism, and I have gotten the opportunity to present several times at historians' conferences.

I am also involved in civil rights/civil liberties activism, especially LGBT rights, feminism, and racial equality. I believe as Desmond Tutu said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." So I'm big into standing up for justice for all people!

I love being outside, hiking, reading, going to the movies, live theater, and, I can't lie to you, am most definitely a dog person (though I'm cool with animals of all kinds).

I'm a rock fan with a soft spot for 80's stadium rock...I know, I know, but it's fun! On the exact opposite spectrum, I enjoy live theater and have been known to sing along to the occasional musical soundtrack. I was fortunate enough to see Hamilton this past year, which was incredible.

I'm a pretty avid reader, and I enjoy everything from biographies, to historical novels, to fantasy franchises. Would love any book recommendations you have for me!
I would love to travel to South Africa to check out the landscapes and wild life! That's my dream trip right now.
